How to remove the motor assembly

         Remove the vanity light cover to reveal the sunroof motor assembly.

             Disconnect the sunroof switch connector and lighting connector.

             Using a 4mm Allen Key, remove the (2) socket cap screws holding in the motor assembly.

See Figure 1

             Allow the motor assembly to drop down and disconnect the motor connector.

             Removing the gears

             Using a T20 torx driver, remove the (4) screws holding the top cover on. See Figure 2

             Carefully remove the gears.

             On the underside of the first 2 gears will be a shim. DO NOT LOSE THEM. See Figure 3

*IMPORTANT NOTE                                                           Keep track of the shims and don’t lose them. They will be reused.

          Below the Drive Gear (3rd gear) is a cam and a small preload spring inside the receiver.
These won't be reused.      

             Clean out old grease from the casing with a dry rag and make sure no plastic pieces/gear        
parts remain.

Installing the new gears

             Install the 2 shims back on the respective gear shafts.

             Apply a dab of supplied grease to the shims and gear shafts.

             Apply grease all around the gear and install on its respective shaft.

             Press the drive gear into place, over the cam hub.

Tip - Install gear 2 (middle gear) last to make installation easier.

             Add a few dabs of white lithium grease to the top of each gear.

             Replace the top cover and install the (4) T20 screws.

             Add a few dabs of grease to the external steel gear.

Your new gear replacement is complete

Installation of the motor assembly is the reverse of removal
